Carson City’s Thanksgiving Day Annual Turkey Trot by St. Teresa of  Avila Catholic School

Virtual runs on Thanksgiving have become a thrilling and spirited way for families and friends to celebrate the holiday while staying active and connected, even from a distance. With the crisp autumn air and the scent of roasting turkey wafting through the virtual realm, participants eagerly lace up their running shoes, don festive costumes, and embark on their chosen routes with enthusiasm. As they jog through their neighborhoods or scenic trails, the vibrant fall foliage and the occasional sight of fellow runners waving and cheering from their screens evoke a sense of camaraderie and joy. The virtual aspect of these runs allows participants to join from various locations, fostering a sense of inclusivity and diversity, while the shared excitement and post-run celebrations via video calls or social media platforms amplify the sense of togetherness, making these virtual runs a memorable and enjoyable Thanksgiving tradition.

There is a $25.00 registration fee.

Scheels Turkey Trot

At the Scheels Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving, the sidewalks and streets come alive with a whirlwind of colorful costumes, the pitter-patter of determined feet, and the tantalizing scent of pumpkin pie lingering in the air. Amidst the laughter and friendly banter, participants eagerly race to the finish line, fueled by the contagious holiday spirit and the promise of a well-deserved feast. With turkey-themed headbands bobbing and the occasional gobble echoing through the crowd, this exciting and fun event is a delightful way to kick off the day’s festivities with a dash of healthy competition and a whole lot of fun. Walk it or run it while giving back to your community!

Nov 20 – 22: $45 (During Packet Pickup at SCHEELS)
Nov 23: $65 (Race Day – Cash Only)

Scheels Turkey Trot in Sparks

Carson Valley Turkey Trot Fun Run

This is a Thanksgiving race with a great cause! Starting at Minden Park, you’ll be trotting through this beautiful Carson Valley neighborhood while you’re helping raise money for The Douglas Animal Welfare Group and Carson Valley Community Food Closet. You are able to participate virtually or in person for this race. Jump start your holiday by getting in on this special event!

It is $30 per person to register, and if your kids want in on the action, they can join the Kids’ Turkey Dash for $20 per child (ages 12 and under).
